Hi guys,

Prob an easy one but I just want to reinstall p4 over my current copy. I have it on USB and get as far as the 'something else' option when I get confused. (Don't want to install dude by side cos then I'd have windows 7 and two p4s!) any help much appreciated :-)

What are you trying to achieve ..

a fresh install of Peppermint, but keeping your user files/docs/pics/etc. ?

==================================================

Really you cannot install "over the top" .. you can install to the same partition, but that will erase and replace.

if you have a separate /home partition you could keep that ?

Can you explain what you mean by "over the top", and what (if anything) you're trying to keep.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have Windows 7 and P4 installed at present. I hope to completely reinstall both, I hope not to keep the files and have backed up any that I need.

I'm going to reinstall Windows first and then reinstall P4 so that everything is completely fresh, just to get the best out of my system - as windows has slowed+ ove rthe last 18/12 and I've been messing with P4 in terms of downloading lots of programs to figure which I like best, and now I know.

Thanks!

I'm assuming you have a Windows installation DVD, as reinstalling Windows from a recovery partition will likely overwrite the Linux partitions anyway ?

If so, why not just boot the Peppermint LiveCD/LiveUSB then use Gparted to delete all partitions .. then start from scratch by installing Windows, then Peppermint ?
