What is really sad is all the perfectly good computers being thrown away because of this defunct business model.
They all get sent to the far-East to pollute the ground water.. Doesn't bear thinking about.

If you're unsure, post the contents of that file to:
http://peppermint.pastebin.com

then post a link to your pastebin back here.

Here you go:

I'll admit I'm a newbie, so any help or pointers gratefully received.

It's not really holding up the boot process, so if everything is working except the winmodem I wouldn't worry about it.

As I said, if you didn't manually elect to use the btrfs file system during installaton, uninstalling btrfs-tools should get rid of the btrfs message and *possibly* hide the other message too (which I suspect is just being dragged along for the ride).

If you're unsure if you're using btrfs, post the output from:
Code:
sudo fdisk -l

and
Code:
sudo blkid

yeah, you're safe to remove it .. run:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove btrfs-tools

then reboot to see if the message has disappeared.

Heh! I've been lurking in this thread. 8-)

Glad to see someone else that appreciates vintage equipment.

The laptop I'm on, right now, was built in 2008 (according to the Dell service tag), and it's the fastest machine in my stable, thanks to Peppermint Four Re-Spin and, of course, the newly installed SSD.

This thing was probably pushing $4000+ (going by reviews), when it was purchased by some clueless corporate entity. I bought it on Fleabay, a couple of months ago, for pennies_on_the_wholesale_dollar.

That's the plus side of staying behind the curve. I hope they never figure it out... LoL!

1.Did as suggested.. rebooted.. same message!
Ah well.

2. Old laptops.
Are OK, but the inevitable dead battery means that a new one is normally a good buy.

However, I don't really approve of filling the world with loads of horrible leaky old batteries that find their way into the landfill, dripping horrible chemicals into the ecosystem.
