Hello,

Well I haven't posted on here for a long long time. The reason is that Peppermint Ice has been faultless. :D

The first time I installed PI it ran great and I did all the regular updates. Then after one update my video started playing up. I posted on here about my problem and it was suggested it might have been an Adobe Flash update that caused the problem. I tried to back track but couldn't get it to work. As I didn't have that many personal files on the system, I saved the few I did have to flash drive and re-installed the system. Since the re-install I have only updated the system where it was necessary and other than that I have left it alone. So it switches on, it switches off and does just what I want it to do. There are a couple of things I might want to do but I'll ask in the correct part of the forum.

So to all the admin and the mods, and all the members and users. Thanks for a great distro! :D

I think the distro is the best ever for my needs, and I have vary little trouble at all with it. I find most problems are cause either by updates, or people installing, and removing stuff without looking before they leap. So many things can be messed up by removing things if your not paying attention. I see lots of post about "this, or that, isn't working any more" but the Ops rarely ever say any more than "it just stopped working", as if a magical gremlin crept into their system and caused it to go "poof". I just wish people would read forum 44 AT THE VERY least before posting, and would tell what had been done just before the noticed difference. usually, it's supposed to be a mind reading act they expect it seems. Just "this don't work", and "how do I fix it"? Sorry for going on, and on, but I should stop reading these forums. It is wearing me out. ;)
I am glad you are enjoying it as much as I am. 8-)

I agree with oldrong if the system does what you want then thats all that you need. I have a few hard drives that I try other distro's on and there is always something that doesn't quite suit what I want.

I used to swear by PCLINUX when it was '09. It was brilliant. Then it was upgraded to '10 and it struggles to install and won't boot. This is the fussiest box I've ever built, yet it's the most high end. I tried Fedora 14 the other day, same problem slow booting and very slow running. I'm not knocking these distro's but for some reason they don't like this box, or this box doesn't like them. But Peppermint Ice, bless it, just loaded and worked. What more could I ask for? :D

Code:
make me_a_sandwich

I've still not found source code which will actually get my computer to make me a sandwich. That should definitely go on the request tracker.

Thanks for the kind words :)

You forgot the sudo command. You should be familiar with xkcd.

Closest I've come is a couple commands that essentially turned a hard drive into a biscuit
