I encountered the same problem when attempting to install Peppermint 3 on two separate occasions:

A.
Peppermint version: latest 32 bit version of Peppermint 3 as of a few days ago. (The md5 checksum was fine.)
Installation medium: a 4GB flash drive (created using Unetbootin, running on Windows 7 on my Lenovo laptop).
Computer in question: an old netbook - an ASUS 1000H running Joli OS.

B.
Peppermint version: latest 64 bit version of Peppermint 3 as of a few days ago. (The md5 checksum was fine.)
Installation medium: a 16GB flash drive (created using Unetbootin, running on Windows 7 on my Lenovo laptop).
Computer in question: a Lenovo Z575 dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu.

In both cases, I shutdown the computer, insert the USB drive, start the machine up again, and eventually am presented with the options of "Install Peppermint", "Live Boot" (or somesuch), "check disk", "memory test", etc. If I select "Install Peppermint", I end up at the first of the Ubuntu-family installer screens, except eeevvvverything is black except for interactable-elements - buttons and menus like the language-selection list. If I cancel/exit the installer process or just select to run Peppermint live off the USB stick, everything's peachy as far as I can tell about the live version. What should I do?

Strange that the same problem would crop up across two very different machines - the only clear commonalities being some version of Ubuntu-based Linux somewhere on the hard disk and the software setup used to create the installation medium.

Certainly an odd problem .. if it boots and work in a "Live" session, what happens if you select "Install Peppermint" from the Live desktop (does the ubiquity installer still mess up) ?
