Thanks! I only chose Peppermint Two because someone said it would run much faster than Peppermint Three on a netbook, but speed isn't important when up-to-date-ness is at stake

Actually there's little in it (I use it on an Acer Aspiire One) .. IIRC a default install of PM3 is a whole 3MB heavier on RAM than PM2.

Here was Peppermint 2's default memory footprint from a cold boot (wireless active):

as you can see "free -m" reported 93MB used (not counting buffers/caches).

IIRC, Peppermint 3 was 97MB in the same test .. but dropped a MB when I disable bluetooth.

So as I said, there's nothing in it .. I was expecting the gtk+3 stuff of PM3 to be heavier, but was pleasantly surprised :)

Obviously those figures can climb sharply when you start running things like the web browser (particularly with flash and multiple tabs)
