I was watching text on my boot up and I noticed a few things loading on boot that I had removed from the system and I was wondering if these things still need to load on boot up and whether or not they can be removed and how to go about removing them.... The machine is old it does not have bluetooth, nor will it ever be connected to a printer.... I have noticed Bluetooth dameon and cups dameon loading in the boot up text.... Also I was wondering about a few things showing in task manager after boot up.... there are 7 things loading that start with gvfs i wondering about???

Screenshot is of my daughters IBM T30, but it is loading the same things as the old gateway solo 9300...
I don't really care too much about what her T30 loads because she has 1 gig ram, but I only have 512mb

Firstly, can I ask you not to post oversize images in any forum other than the Artwork forum.
It make navigating and reading difficult.

Which version of Peppermint is that ?

I take it what you're asking is "where are applications autostarted from" .. right ?

Sorry I like things big so I can see them....
I shrunk the picture from 1024x 768 to 640x480 hope that helps....

What I would like to know is if anything in that task manager box can be removed without killing the system...
there is a lot of stuff running in there, and also on boot up there is a cups and bluetooth daemon loading up... I was wondering if peppermint had a services section where I can un-check services like PCLinuxOS has in there LXDE edition....

is this what you mean

menu > Preferences > Desktop Session Settings

?

=====================================================

cupsd will be being started as an upstart job .. so probably the best way to disable it would be to either uninstall cups-daemon, or to move the

/etc/init.d/cups

symlink to somewhere else.

IIRC to completely remove bluetooth, you need to uninstall both bluez and blueman.
