If someone takes the time to reply to your questions (on their own time, voluntarily) please at least have the courtesy to acknowledge that they did so. So many post go by here with a question, and many times several answers, and the original poster doesn't as much as say OK I got it, much less thank you.
It would make attempting to answer questions much less frustrating if the persons asking the questions would say, OK I got it, or would at least let someone know they bothered to read the answers, even if they didn't work.
I could point out several that I know for a fact the original posters are still frequenting this forum, yet they STILL have not come back to their post to close them out, or at least let anyone know they got the attempt at help.
To not do so is just plain RUDE!

Making this a sticky as it's a very good point.

It is a good point and it's a practicality thing, too. The janitorial service would like to explain their procedure ;)

Topics that have been dormant for a month or more are scrutinized for their basic status (solved or not). If the thread has no resolution then it means heading to the member list to figure out if the member themselves are still active (visited the forums at all within the past month or after the thread's date, whichever comes last). If not, then the thread is marked (MIA) (or possibly "Answered" is a good answer was given but not acknowledged), and archived. If so, then the thread is bumped asking for a status report from the OP.

This isn't a huge big deal for the janitorial service but it really would make life that bit easier were threads pursued to closure. Thanks!

Aside from making the mods' and admins' lives easier, it's nice for the user who helped to know that his/her help was appreciated. I know I like to know when my feeble attempts to help actually produce positive results.

Indeed -- I didn't mean to detract from the courtesy of the act, which is actually more important.

Which ever forum I am on, if I get a reply, I try and be as polite as possible. Hopefully in this forum, I have done the same as it has been stated already, the users who make the effort to reply do so because they are here to help off their own free will.

This I am aware of as my site (simple as it is) tries to achieve the same goal .

Cheers

Tim

I agree with the original poster, good manners doesn't cost anything, I've use the services of the members here and on other forums and I've always been thankfull for the help given, so I hope I'm not one of the rude ones if I've ever done that I can assure you it's been purely accidental
