Firstly, are you sure you want the "Songbird" media player ? .. I *thought* they hadn't done a Songbird for Linux for quite some time now.

It CAN be installed from GetDeb apps:
http://www.getdeb.net/software/Songbird

But there's also "Nightingale" .. which was a fork of Songbird when they dropped support for Linux:
http://getnightingale.com/
(if you look at their plugin page, it seems the songbird plugins work with nightingale too)

which can be installed by adding this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~trebelnik-stefin ... ightingale

If you want to try Nightingale:
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:trebelnik-stefina/nightingale

then
Code:
sudo apt-get update

then
Code:
sudo apt-get install nightingale

you can remove it with:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nightingale

==================================

If you'd definitely prefer Songbird, you'll need to add the GetDeb apps repository .. instructions here:
http://www.getdeb.net/updates/Ubuntu/12 ... to_install

If you'd definitely prefer Songbird, let me know and I'll post instructions.

Adding the GetDeb repository is easy, but I'm not a fan of leaving it enabled .. it contains too many other software packages that might get inadvertently updated on your system, which may or may not cause issues and make resolving them more complex.

I've nothing against the GetDeb repo .. I just always disable it after installing what I want.

Other people love having a ton of extra packages in one place and receiving updates, it's just a personal preference thing, I prefer single software PPA's :)
