Hi, I have gotten a "new" laptop, Lenovo S10e. I currently have Windows XP and Linux Mint installed (I need Windows as my job entails a lot of Windows Support).

Is it possible to remove Mint and install Peppermint 3? as I do like Peppermint better.

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

AFAIK, the install routine *should* offer you the option to replace Mint .. just be careful not to overwrite the Windows partition.

Will give it a shot and report back.

(edit)

OK, so I tried that and had a few issues:

1. When selecting install when booting from my flash drive the Installation pages are mostly black and some of the options cannot be read. Booted into the Live version and selected Install and this was no longer a problem.

2. Obtaining drivers for my Broadcom WIFI was a problem, which worked fine in the latest Ubuntu and Linux Mint (I will try it again later and post the results of the log file if it still does not work)

3. When choosing to install I have 3 options - Dual Boot, Wipe the drive and Start over, Delete and Resize partitions yourself. I was a bit scared to choose either of the 3 options as I don't have the time to reinstall Windows, Office, Core Draw, etc. right now if I mess this up.

select the "other" option, and install Peppermint directly over your Mint partition. If you don't know which is which, you can use the partition tool in the Live environment(or the disk utility in it too), and your Windows partition will most likely say "Windows" and be a NTFS type file system, whereas Mint will probably be on an EXT4 partition.

If you are still unclear on it, post something showing how your hard drive is configured, and we'll be able to give more specific instructions.

First, editing your post like that won't get it noticed, as it will already be tagged as "read" by anyone that's already read it .. creating a new posting is usually a better idea :)

OK, you have a couple of options.

A) Do as dsplayname says above

B) Boot to the Peppermint LiveCD/LiveUSB, select "Try Peppermint" and once at the desktop use gparted to delete the Mint partition(s) .. then run the installer from the "Install Peppermint" icon on the desktop .. the installer *should* then offer to install Peppermint in the free (unpartitioned) space.

Thanks guys, I was able to install Peppermint with my Windows XP partition intact.

And, also good news is that my wireless is working! :D

Got to do some updates now, and install a few programs. Thanks once again for all the help.
