I use Thunderbird as my email client, and love it. I currently use version 3.1.20, as it is what's in the repository. I don't have any problems with it except that I keep getting notifications that it's outdated, and Mozilla will stop supporting it in a few weeks. Now, I get a full window of the notification, as well as a link to download the latest version. They really want me to update it...and bad.
Should I download the latest version and figure out how to make it work, should I just stay with what I've got, or just shut-up and wait for Peppermint 3 and see if it has a solution? Like I said, I don't have any actual problems; just Mozilla harassing me to update every time I check my email.

Just go to preferences in Thunderbird, and un-check the "update" notices in the "update tab. That will shut it up until the new one comes out in the repositories.

Sorry, I marked this as solved before I actually got it fixed. My version of Thunderbird doesn't have that option- only the option to check for updates to additional plugins, which I don't use.
I did figure out how to make it not load any sort of home page or landing screen when I open it, but I don't know how well, or if, that will work.

Humm, I am running 9.0.1 maybe that is the reason, I'm not sure.

losing the landing screen got rid of the notification and warning. It's probably not the best solution, but this wasn't that serious of a problem for me anyways. Thanks from the help.
