When I boot from the lice cd the menu comes up, and I take the install option.
This is where my problem is.
The screen changes to the Peppermint logo and the 5 (?) dots underneath, and the first dot changes color (red to white or vice-versa) and the hard drive makes one click, the next dot changes color and the hd clicks, and on and on, and on like this.
I installed Ubuntu and Kubuntu 10.04 fine (wipe disk and install with defaults). the ubuntus work fine everywhere I have tried (adding software, apt-get, ...) however when I log-out or restart the screen goes blank and my monitor displays a box saying "out of range" and I have to hold the power button to get anywhere from here. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SOLVING THE UBUNTU PROBLEMS.
I also burned Peppermint two, it acts the same as above.
Where to begin troubleshooting and solving?

Might start here.http://www.peppermintos.net/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=1355
Old disk, new disk, DVD, CD, pendrive, RW, R only, speed burned at, MD5 sum checked? Lots of questions, but not much info.

Thanks for your patience and help.
I googled the error message - "(initramfs) unable to find a medium containing a live filesystem", read the first hit, said to change the bios for SATA from IDE to AHCI and live peppermint works - will try install next.
Sorry for the brutish question, I was frustrated that ubuntu would install but peppermint would not.
I will post if it installs.

Installed and works fine - even shutdown/reboot!
New hardware did me in. This is on a new computer (build yourself with sata drives - used to run on ide).
Mark this one SOLVED.

Glad you got it figured out. You can mark it solved yourself by simply using the "edit" button on your original post in the title line. Good job!
