My default operating system isn't booting up since Peppermint upgraded itself. I have tried to reinstall grub, and have also installed customizer. Both StartupManager and Customizer don't resolve the problem. I run the latest Peppermint on an older Desktop Computer plus Windows XP Pro. Pleae advise :?:

As I understand it, you can still boot to P2. If so, please post the content of your grub.cfg file (boot > grub > grub.conf).

detail: Alt + F2 and type "gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg" without the quotes

I see nothing amiss there. Try this: in your terminal type "sudo update-grub" (w/o quotes) and hit enter. Enter your password and enter again. Reboot. If you're living right that might work for you.

BTW (and I should have mentioned it) use Pastebin.com to post lengthly info. My bad.

regards
mac

edit: Question: You installed grub to the MBR, right??

I updated grub "update-grub". After doing that and making sure the operatings system I wanted to boot was set to boot in StartupManager, it did. Thanks.

My apologies for the long post.

No apologies necessary, revjan. You might want to read through this http://peppermintos.net/viewforum.php?f=44
