Hi,

Since installing Peppermint 2 I've not seen the update manager shield showing on the bottom panel.
How do I put this back so I can see if things are out of date?

Thanks

Ian

hi wiggy25
right-click on a blank space in your panel
click on "Add/Remove Panel Items" in the resulting window
a "Panel Preferences" window will appear
double-click "Application Launch Bar"
open "System Tools"
click on "Update Manager"
click on the "Add" button (at the top)
close everything up

that will put the icon in your panel

regards
mac

Thank you Mac.

I did actually find that but thought I was doing something wrong as I was expecting to see the shield with the tick in it to say all was up to date.

I'm so used to Mint I'm not too sure what is or isn't right!

Marked this solved anyway.

Cheers

Ian

I see. The "Mint" shield was in P1 / ICE. I don't know if there's a way to get it in P2.

regards
mac

No problem, that is good enough for me.

It looks like this is quite stable anyway, I installed it the other night and there was only 100 updates, to say when this was first released that isn't very many.

I'm not going to do anything with the latest Ubuntu it's saying is available though :-)

It's a nice easy to use distro, I do like not having all of the fancy desktop adjustments, I really have no need for them, this is great.

Cheers

Ian

Do not perform the Ubuntu update. I did it within my EeePc and, actually, I don't see the improvment.

I am a system user, not a technician and not a programmer. So...

The process took roughly 24 hours long and I have to reinstall all repositories added by myself or those specific to Peppermint. So, to me, this update is not worth.

I did not updated Ubuntu with my others computers and sincerely, I don't see the difference, except the lost settings to redo.

More, I suppose the Peppermint team is doing the equivalent updating, using their own ways to do that (update manager and so on). So, I figure that Peppermint users simply do not need the Ubuntu update.
