I cannot emphasise `what a difference it makes' to get all your settings correct in these areas.

Hardware acceleration is being introduced in many different ways and software apps.

In chromium there are a number of `gpu acceleration' options.
type > chrome://flags < in the address bar to access them.

With gpu enabled (hardware acceleration) your pc uses the video ram and circuitry to speed up your display.
this has been quoted as `upto 1000 times faster' (adobe re/ flash 11)
