This has just occurred over the last couple of days.
If I cut or copy a folder or file an error message pops up that tells me that the file or folder that I am trying to move does not exist.
This applies to subfolders rather than the folders marked Music, Documents etc.
For instance, I can copy and paste the Music folder and all its contents with no problems but if I try to move the subfolder named Reggae up pops the error message and tells me that the Reggae folder does not exist.
The same applies to the files inside the subfolders.

I haven't made any drastic changes to anything but I did install some updates a few days ago.
Anyone else with the same problem or any idea's as to why this has happened?
Just updating this: the problem is with audio files, all other files copy and paste o.k.

Thanks

Just checked and I get the same result with pcmanfm for audio files.
Tried with krusader with no problem.
Looks like the pcmanfm update is broken,
as 1Eric2 mentioned in the conky thread.
Try another file manager. midnightcommander, mc, is always handy in the console.

FWIW I messed around trying to reproduce this problem and failed. Had success copying/moving any directories/subfolders/files of various types.
This might be of interest to Kendall, as I got the package via IRC as opposed to thru the repos.

I'm unfamiliar with this file manager but have taken a look and it appears to be quite interesting.
How do I copy and paste using midnight commander?
Do you have a link to a tutorial by any chance?

I've never really looked at file managers other than the one's supplied with the system.
Now might be a good time to learn my way round another one just to keep my options open for instances such as this.

Anyone else with the same problem after recent updates through the update manager?

You'll need to add gpm to the autostart directory.
It has a method for cut'n'paste but I don't remember the steps.
It's probably in the FAQ or the manual, below.

I can't reproduce the problem on my machine. Let me try a clean system and I'll report back. If necessary I'll pull the current git build of pcmanfm and push another update.

mc is excellent. It does take some getting used to. Well worth learning. The link below might help you.

You can use any file manager you want as far as that goes. Personally I don't care for pcmanfm and prefer Thunar. That's just me. There are several to choose from. The link below can give you an idea.

Just to satisfy my own selfish curiosity, both Richard and Yogi said they experienced the problem while attempting to move audio files.
Did either of you notice if it happens to be format/compression specific?
For instance, can copy/move .mp3, but not WAV or WMA?

anywho, the cp and mv CLI method is always there, and always will be as an option without an added install until the package gets 'fixed', just saying

I was playing around with this. I can cut/copy/paste any type of file as long as I do one at a time. If I pick multiple files it errors with something that looks like this:

03-brad_paisley-welcome_to_the_future.mp3: Error stating file '/home/jon/Music/3%20Three%20Days%20Grace%20-%20Just%20Like%20You.mp3': No such file or directory

A fairly simple lightweight file manager you could try is XFE. It seems to compliment pcmanfm fairly well. I've been using it for a few months without any issues.
