Long url's are a problem for phpbb3 based forums, and many other types of CMS because they don't word wrap well. This means that if you copy and paste, for example, a lengthy Google search url into a post, instead of fitting into whatever dimensions your browser is, phpbb3's layout will instead overflow beyond the edges of the window. This results in a horizontal scrollbar, which many have come to refer to as the single most annoying thing on Earth since nails going down blackboards. It makes it very tedious, particularly for those with lower resolutions, to read posts.

BBCode provides a way around this. Use the following syntax to post a spammishly long url in the appropriate manner:

Code:
[url=http://www.longwindedsite.com/withbadpermanentlinks][color=red]link[/color][/url]

The color tags are optional but highlight where your reader should click. The above code renders like this: link

You can use the buttons right above the input box if you don't feel like typing in the code.

Cheers!
