THIS TUTORIAL IS CURRENTLY BROKEN.
This is on account of the PPA in question returning a permission denied error.

Thanks to Rowtag who sent in this How To

Class: Software installation
Difficulty: Straightforward
Time: 5 minutes
Desirability: If you want a weather applet in LXPanel this is probably the easiest way of getting one

Rowtag provides a link to this quick article about installing a weather applet to your panel. The instructions have been tested to work on Peppermint OS, with the only small caveat being that it is recommended by the Peppermint team to use

Code:
apt

rather than

Code:
apt-get

to obtain the software. The ppa in question is experimental, so your mileage may vary down the line regarding bugs, but the software in question is at this time sound and bug free, and can be helpful in providing, for example, on screen notifications for weather warnings (a.k.a. "uh-oh, there's a storm coming, time to unplug the computer").
