Class: Ice configuration tweak
Difficulty: Easy, a couple of edits to a config text file.
Time: Five minutes if done efficiently.
Desirability: If you use Google Apps with your own domain name, and want to use Ice in this capacity, you've come to the right place
mupp95 supplied this hint for getting the Google App Ice SSBs working with your own domain, which is rather neat:
The setup: I have a google apps account that has a domain name linked to my google account. For instance, I use gmail, gdocs, google calendar, etc. but instead of an @gmail.com address, mine is a domain name (ex. @something.biz).
The issue: Clicking on Office > Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Docs would open up the ssb, but kept trying to login to a gmail.com user account, instead of letting me login to my something.biz account.
The fix: Expand the office menu, then right-click on the app you want to work with. Click on Properties to open the Application Shortcut window. In the "Command" box adjust as follows:
chromium-browser --app="" (the part in parenthesis will be different for each of the 3 apps as follows)
for mail "http://mail.google.com/a/something.biz"
for docs "http://docs.google.com/a/something.biz/" (the / at the end is necessary for docs, but not for mail)
for calendar "http://www.google.com/calendar/a/something.biz/render"
