How To Fix X64 Flash Issues For HULU Desktop & HULU Website in Firefox

This only applies to the x64 Flash on x64 Distros
Note = Some Players & Websites Require the x32Lib Files that are not installed by default in the x64 Ver. This Guide will allow you to install the x32Lib Files Resolving this issue.

To Solve Issues with Flash Player on HULU website ( ) while using Firefox or Google Chrome Web Browser.

Step 1 ) For Firefox , Click on the Tools Tab @ the top of the browser,
In Dropdown Menu Click Add-ons,When The Add-ons window appears click the Plugins Tab, Scroll Down & check what version of Shockwave Flash you have installed - Current version as of this writing is
Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

This is for x64 Platforms. If you have any other version installed you need to uninstall with synaptic package manager. Close Firefox.

For Google Chrome Web Browser you will not have to check the plugins as they have their own Flash built in , Although if you have an issue viewing the shows @ ( ) then you will need to Follow the instructions @ Step 2 below, which will install the 32libs that you need for HULU's Web Site.

Step 2 ) Go to Synaptic Package Manager in the system menu. Open & (Reload ) Refresh The Packages List.In the Search Box type in Flash.
The package
Should be the only one checked as installed. If it is Not,Mark the Package For Installation.
If any other Flash Packages are checked as installed , Mark them for uninstallation at this time.
Then Click the Apply Button, it will let you check the packages & install & or uninstall.
After a successful install you may repeat step 1 to check your plugin status & the HULU website should play your movies.

To check that Adobe Flash Player installed correctly to any browser, Open it & go to this link =
Version 10,1,53,64 should show up in "Version" box.

For HULU Desktop
If you use HULU Desktop or have it installed you must point the HULU Desktop player to the correct Flash Player Installed File.

Step 3 ) Open up your HOME Folder, Click the VIEW button at the top of the File Browser, then Check the box Show Hidden Files.
Now Scroll Down inside your Home Folder & Locate the HULUDESKTOP file & ( Click )Open it. Scroll Down to the [flash] entry.
it will say " flash_location = (null) "
Or another entry.

It Should Look Like This =

flash_location = /var/lib/flashplugin-installer/

If it does not copy & enter the code. Now ,Save & close the File.

If you do not have HULU Desktop installed you can install it

You will want to install the Ubuntu x64 Deb Package.
After a Successful installation you will want to try & see if it displays the shows correctly. If it does not, or gives you an error message , you will want to Do Step #3.

I hope this Solves your Flash Issues with Hulu. Have a Good Day.
