g'morning... this issue has re-appeared... HPG6 appeared to boot normally, but did not automagically connect to the internet and was completely unresponsive... had to fire up the ol' Qosmio to remind myself of the REISUB/O in order to reboot as the keyboard was also unresponsive... after reboot I'm greeted with;
Code:
The specified directory home/spence/le is not valid
and i can't for the life of me figure out what the /le is referring to?

this error message has greeted me a few times since our last go 'round with it, but not on a regular basis nor on successive reboots

can we have the contents of these again:
Code:
gedit /etc/xdg/user-dirs.defaults

and
Code:
gedit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs

right there in the file is says all changes will be retained in the next run.. but they never are, always overwritten.. so i had returned them to their original texts... but that error message sporadically reappears... a couple times a day...

Any clues in:
Code:
gedit ~/.xsession-errors

If not....

I reckon there's a config file somewhere that contains the string "home/spence/le" where it should read "/home/spence/le"

First let's recursively search files in your home folder for that string
Code:
cd ~

then
Code:
grep -r "home/spence/le"

anything listed ?
(ignore the files that end with "permission denied")
