Just noticed something odd...

I run Peppermint Four 64-bit on my Dell Latitude.

I also run Peppermint Four 32-bit on my Asus EeePC.

While playing around with Conky, I noticed keyring storage wasn't turned on at login, on neither machine. 'lxsession-edit' makes this easy to correct -- click-click-click and you're done.

The strange thing was: 'lxsession-edit' was pre-installed on my 64-bit Dell, but not my 32-bit Asus. I *assume* this was done by default -- by 'ubiquity' or whatever. I never added 'lxsession-edit' to my 64-bit machine -- it was just there, from day-one.

Any reason why 'lxsession-edit' AKA "Desktop Session Settings" is included in 64-bit installs, but not 32-bit?!?!?

I might mention...

On Conky -- it's very common to get a warning (not an error, e.g. not fatal), when it first loads.

Code:
WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /tmp/keyring-p6Zpl6/pkcs11: No such file or director

Turning on keyring storage at login is the fix, so 'lxsession-edit' (or the functional equivalent) should be available in all gnome-based distros IMO.

I did a fresh Peppermint Four install on my Dell, and 'lxsession-edit' was available via the Menu => Preferences => Desktop Session Settings selection.

On my Asus, I attempted to forge-out a workable upgrade path (with limited success). I ended up getting a Peppermint Two UI with a Peppermint Four core -- which was interesting -- but, eventually did a Peppermint Four overwrite (without formatting /home). So, there may be some vestiges of Peppermint Two remaining on that machine -- although, I don't know what would be present in /home that would affect this situation.

Anyway, you might want to check it out...

I've suggested it for the Peppermint 4 respin that's due out soon .. dunno if it'll make it in though, not my decision ;)

Cheers.

{EDIT]

Yup, it's in the respin :)
