again... all thanks to you... just wanna follow up on "nomodeset" ... i relied on this answer here initially to remind me how to insert this into my grub.cfg permanently... but if memory serves me PCNetSpec, you advised me to replace "quiet boot" with "nomodeset" ... not append them together like this advises... ???

No, you're safe to just append it

Can't remember why, but we probably only removed quiet splash in an attempt to see what was going on.

yes... you wanted to know where the reboot was stalling out... happily, reboot times are running between 45 and 58 seconds now... instead of 2-3 minutes...
