As per title... how can I setup, in Peppermint4, the HOME folder to be in its own separate partition?

If you're talking about a fresh install it's fairly easy. Here are some resources you might want to check out first: ONE
TWO.

You can use Gparted on the Peppermint LiveCD (or, as I prefer, use Gparted's LiveCD to create your partitions as you like. You will want swap, root and home partitions (others, as well, if you like). Once created and formatted (ext4 I would suggest) install Peppermint choosing the "Something Else" option when you reach the "Install Type" window during the install process. Assign your partitions (/, /home, etc) and the continue with the installation.

If you are going to dual boot with another OS (say Windows for example) you'll need make sure you have reinstall resources for Windows (just in case) and back up files you need to keep / protect. Be careful you do not modify any partitions the other OS is using. Also, if you will be installing Windows as well you will want to install Windows first.

If you are talking about creating a separate home partition in an already existing Peppermint install, it get's a bit more complicated although not as daunting as it might first appear. If that's your objective read _THIS_.

After you're read through some of the material post back for further discussion / assistance.

regards
mac

Alternately, you can also set it all up using the Peppermint Live CD and the installer, skipping the GParted step. Simply choose "Something Else" at the HD setup screen and you'll be taken to a screen where you can delete, create and modify partitions. (it uses GParted also)
