Working great!! I'll get update this later with the inxi output, but in the meantime, here are the steps I took to get this running:

1. Download the 32-bit Intel ISO image
2. Use UNetbootin to create a USB stick Live image
3. Boot the laptop from the USB stick with the Ethernet connected by pressing F12 during boot
4. Follow instructions on installing
5. Get wifi to work by opening terminal and running:
a. sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter
b. echo b43 | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
c. reboot
6. Enable TRIM:
a. Use “Scheduled TRIM” method by saving a script that runs fstrim in cron.daily
b. Anacron picks up the cron job by default, so nothing else needs to be done
7. Tweaks for SSD:
a. From what I understand from elsewhere, the relatime setting supercedes the noatime setting and has been the default in the kernel for a while, so nothing to be done there.
b. And for an older system that is maxed out at 2GB of ram, I'm not sure if the swappiness/RAM disk thing will have any effect. I might try it later on, but its not a high priority.

Gah...I'll also update this later when I figure out how to get lists to work.
