Hmmm... He does raise a good point about pointing out where to find the additional drivers. I'll see about adding that to the User's Guide somewhere. Overall I think it was a good review. It hit a lot of the major points. I completely disagree with his taste regarding the theme, but everybody gets an opinion, right?

Themeing is always an "eye of the beholder" thing, and you can't account for some peoples taste eh ;)

The good news is Peppermint should be more customisable than ever now .. so tweak away to your hearts content.

I agree about the additional drivers thing.

Another review here:

I do think a lot of youtube "commenter's" completely miss the point and strengths of Peppermint .. and have obviously not used it .. but hey as you point out, everyone's entitled to an opinion .. even a ill-informed one :)

And then there's those that hear the word "cloud" and go all super paranoid, without checking what that means, or how it relates to Peppermint....

The guy in the first review is very easy to dislike, but was fair.
Never heard somebody call them "urals" before, and that really bothered me. Maybe more so than his gross deformation of our theme.

One of the things that initially turned me away from Peppermint was the red/white candy (colours i'm not really fond of and candy i never eat).
This new background theme breathes of nostalgic tones and to the openness of mystery.
The half peppermint on start menu reflects a sense openness in itself.

Okay, that's just from an artistic point of view.
The whole revamp of homepage shows a definite willingness to improve on a more general level.

The only 'hick' i have is the preference for Chrome.
In light of recent security issues, is this still the way to go?

BTW, i may be blind this a.m., but where is the 'create new thread' link to this forum?

Chromium and Chrome have the "--app" option required for SSB's .. but only Chromium is open sourced ;)

That said, there's nothing stopping anyone from installing Firefox if you'd prefer .. just don't expect the shortcuts created in ICE to work with it ;)

I'm a Linux Newb and after installing Peppermint 4 as my first Distro, I see why he's so enthusiastic. He mirrors my own thoughts on the main philosophy of Team Peppermint, especially about being very fast getting on the net etc, having bare bones and adding what you want, thereby not having any bloat.

I wish he had just given the review with the default themes - the irony is that I prefer the default better than his choice.

Team Peppermint should be proud of what they've achieved - My congrats to Kendall and the whole team.
