Thanks for the heads up. Kingsoft should be ready for prime time before long. Just out of curiosity, do you use it much in production tasks? I use it for Word / Excel compatibility but that's about it, for now.

I actually only installed about it two weeks ago. It seems to do everything it says on the box. The .docx issue that plagues LibreOffice and Co seems to be cleared up with Kingsoft. Its certainly prettier than LibreOffice. Lets face it, LibreOffice is fantastic but its also pig ugly. All in all, Kingsoft seems to deliver where others fall short. It is a perfect reason for Win users to abandon MS Office. They have an iOS and Android version too. It is weird that they don't offer a Mac version. I guess that must be a licensing thing.

I'm not a power user, but in the corporate world, I desperately needed a way to read/write .docx documents and submit readable Excel budget reports, especially when I'm on the road.

Kingsoft is the only thing I've found that works for me. So, yes, I use it for production tasks, when dealing with MS users.

Indeed. It does seem to handle that quite well, doesn't it ?

It's Chinese, and closed source .. some say the reason it's so good at Microsoft document compatibility is because it contains ripped off Microsoft code.

Good luck Microsoft if you ever decide to chase copyright in a Chinese court .. BMW tried that and got precisely nowhere

It's still not 100% though .. I still had a bit of formatting trouble with one particular .docx I received where text boxes moved around slightly.
