Acer One ZG5 model AOA110 with 8gig SSD runing peppermint 4. With Linpus lite, Ubuntu 10.xx had no trouble with the 32 gig SSD installed in Storage expansion slot on left side. With Peppermint 4, lost the unified 40 gig volume. Digging around found aufs is the tool that does the job. Can this function be installed in peppermint 4? It's the perfect OS for this netbook as long as I can end up with a 40 gig main volume.

I guess it *can* be done, I'm just not sure it's worth the effort (and a union file system would probably make problem solving a nightmare) .. I've always just saved stuff to the SDcard by creating directories like:-

Documents
Pictures
Music
etc.

on the SDcard, then replacing the directories in my home folder with symlinks to those directories on the SDcard
(so anything that gets written to those directories in my home folder actually gets written to the SDcard instead)

Effectively the SDcard is just used for storage.

=======================================================

Theoretically you could put the whole /home folder (including configs) on the SDcard, but that could cause you problems booting if the SDcard ever becomes corrupt, or something like a kernel update breaks the SDcard drivers.
