Long story short...

Viewnoir rawks!

Quote:
"Viewnior is insipred by big projects like Eye of Gnome, because of it's usability and richness, and by GPicView, because of it's lightweight design and minimal interface. So here comes Viewnior - small and light, with no compromise with the quality of it's functions."

Unlike [that other image/photo viewer] Viewnoir 1.3 really does set walls in PM4 64 (haven't compiled it for 32-bit yet).

And, yes, it works with PCManFM. LoL!

That was a nasty one to compile on PM4. I can compile a custom kernel in 30 minutes, on this Dell D620.

Took a couple of hours of fiddling around to compile Viewnoir from source -- kept getting 'make' errors.

I probably should have used their git, but where's the fun in that, you know?

I can see why nobody has come up with an official package for Ubuntu/Debian. :D

When I got done, I packaged it into a .deb file. I'll see if it works on my ATG D630, after I've had some 'black magic' (coffee).

BTW, before I forget it, here are some useful links...

Download (trusted): http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Multimed ... 7683.shtml

GIT: https://github.com/xsisqox/Viewnior

Packaging: http://netlog.jpn.org/r271-635/2011/11/ ... hange.html

Also, makefile couldn't link to one of the .so files. If you run into this prob...

Try
Code:
make LDFLAGS+=\-lm\

Or
Code:
make LDFLAGS+=”-lm”

Looking through my bash history, I can't remember which one worked a treat -- probably the first (escaped).

As an aside, I've found that listening to this Teutonic radio station relieves boredom when coding, LoL! :D

After that cosmic escapade, yesterday, I thought I'd better triple-check the results.

I purged 'eog' & 'mirage' from my install, and opened PCManFM.

When I clicked on images/photos, I had two options - Viewnoir or GiMP. Viewnoir is now the default viewer when images/photos are double-clicked. So, I didn't need to change any file properties.

I also, checked the PM4 main menu. Eye Of Gnome & Mirage are gone, as expected -- GiMP & Viewnoir are present.

Finally, I opened a wall in PCManFM. Viewnoir pulled it up. I right-clicked the wall and selected 'Set As Wallpaper'.

Bingo!

No nasty surprises, today. Looks like a drop-in... ;)
