I get the error message on the printer's LED screen after running the printer's wireless setup wizard.

Hmm. Yes, interesting in the not so good way. I am open to suggestions for alternative routers, but would prefer to get this one working if possible.

I've always had good luck with NetGear routers. This is the one that's connected to my print server...

Maybe PCNetSpec can pull a rabbit out of his hat, and get your rig going. ;)

Don't go buying a new router yet .. I'll read through the router manual tommorrow.

I noticed the router supports IPv6 .. I wonder if this is causing a problem, and can be disabled to test.

I just tried bypassing the problem by connecting the printer directly to the router via the USB port, but that didn't work either.

If you don't mind me quoting myself...

I didn't see your printer listed, but that doesn't mean one of the other CUPS drivers won't work.

Which driver are you using?

Also, have you tried connecting the printer directly to your workstation?

CUPS will usually automagically discover the printer and select the proper driver(s) without any intervention on the part of the user. If that works, then you should be able to adjust the settings, via the CUPS browser utility (discussed above) and modify the settings to use wireless I/O.

The printer works without a problem when connected via USB to my my various computers (one at a time these days)

The driver is for the Epson Stylus NX420 series, which includes my printer. I should mention that the printer works not only with Linux, but also with Mac OS X and Windows 7 and 8. It continues to work on the old wireless network, as well as when connected physically by USB to the individual computer. The problem seems only to be an issue with the new router.

Make sure IPv6 is disabled in the router .. as described on page 25 (28) here:
http://downloads.linksys.com/downloads/ ... n-FrCA.pdf

You might also want to try setting the 2.4 band mode to "wireless G only" and see if that helps. (page 27 (30))

Dunno what the "Channel Width" setting does, but you could also try changing that setting.
