Glad to hear you're enjoying Peppermint Four .. always nice to get some positive feedback .. usually on the forums all we hear from people is when they have a problem, which is fine too :)

Long time since I posted here.. so I may as well re-introduce myself for those who do not know me :)

I'm a software engineer living in England, and have been involved in open source software for a while now. Going back a few years I worked with Linux Mint quite extensively, and later went on to create my own distro, SolusOS. As most are probably aware, SolusOS is no longer around.

Anyhow, I've no doubt that I'll be seeing more of you around now, and look forward to talking with you all. I'll try to be a little active on the forums, but cannot make any promises there, I'm always busy doing *something* :)

Cheers,
Ikey Doherty

Welcome back, Ikey! Sorry to hear about SolusOS but am looking forward to your contribution here. :D

Hi everyone. I've only just seen this obligatory bit, so better late than never. I guess you have already figured out my name is Andy. I'm English and I have lived in Amsterdam, The Netherlands since 2005. I worked for Adobe technical support until 2008 when I was forced into early retirement when I lost most of my sight from glaucoma. So I have a lot of time to kill. This is a very dangerous thing to have if you live in Amsterdam  . To keep myself out of trouble and to prevent the wife from killing me, I turned to my computers. I'm very new to the Linux world and I cut my teeth early in 2013 with Linux Mint Debian Edition with the Cinnamon desktop. Very nice it is too :) . The downside of Cinnamon is it is resource hungry. Not as bad as KDE but still hungry. My Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO li 3710 Notebook could handle it - just. I now have the spritely Crunchbang 11 Waldorf 32bit and the delightfully nimble Peppermint OS Four 32bit as a dual boot system. Just for fun, I have Porteus 2.1 Maté 64bit on a 16GB SanDisk thumb drive. I also have an old Mac 15" PowerBook that has a buggered HD with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS PPC on said buggered disk. This was installed onto the old girl as protest against Mac. It worked really well too; that is the MacBuntu. I think the protest fell on deaf ears. I’m getting a sort of new IDE 40 GB hard drive that will have Debian 7.2 PPC- LXDE banged onto it but that is another story. I'm enjoying using and learning about Linux based OSes. I hope that I can eventually contribute something useful to the forum. I'm thoroughly enjoying Peppermint OS Four. It really is an outstanding distro :D !

Welcome, Andy. Sorry to read about your glaucoma. That must be a bear. Glad to hear you're having fun with Peppermint, though. ;)
