Thought you might find this interesting...

I had some spare time, this morning, and custom compiled a Linux 3.12-rc4 kernel for my Dell D620 / Peppermint 4

Image

Only took about a half-hour...

Code:
<SNIP>

make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/vindsl/Downloads/Kernel/linux-3.12-rc4'
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/vindsl/Downloads/Kernel/linux-3.12-rc4'

real   22m52.690s
user   31m59.676s
sys   4m43.176s
vindsl@Gorgar ~/Downloads/Kernel/linux-3.12-rc4 $

Peppermint 4 is flying like the wind on the latest RCs!

If anybody wants to give it a whirl: https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/testing/?C=S;O=D

EDIT

Oh, BTW...

If you want to compile your own kernel(s) in Peppermint, make sure to install libncurses5-dev & libncursesw5-dev, or you'll get menuconfig errors, e.g. failed builds 8-)

I've split the Kingsoft Office posts off to a new topic of their own.

Here's a link to it:

Here you go...

I'll literally show you my screen, compiling a custom Linux kernel on Peppermint 4

Mozart piano concertos make the time go faster.

And, here's a screenie of me stripping bogus dependencies out of the control file...
