Hello,

My control panel is not working well... After erased (accidentally) the default control panel I've set up a new one. Unfortunately when I connect the computer using the wifi connexion, the control panel disappear if I click on the wifi icon. There is no way to get the control panel back unless reboot the computer. The main issue is that it connect on the default connexion and I can't choose a new one...

I've tried this to get back the default control panel

Quote:
gnome-session-remove gnome-panel
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/panel
gnome-panel &

But it does not work... Do you have any idea ? Thanks a lot.

Try this >>>-----> Open your terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and run...
Code:
lxpanelctl restart

First of all I take it you mean the bottom panel on the desktop ?

Secondly, those commands you tried are for the GNOME desktop not Peppermint LXDE desktop .. are you running the GNOME DE for some reason ?

Do you want to reset the bottom panel and see if that helps ? .. if so I'll post instructions.

Yes please. I would like to reset the bottom panel on the desktop and see if that helps and I am using the normal Peppermint LXDE desktop.
Thanks in advance.

OK, open a terminal and run:
Code:
cp -v ~/.config/lxpanel/Peppermint/panels/panel ~/.config/lxpanel/Peppermint/panels/panel.backup

now run:
Code:
cp -v /usr/share/lxpanel/profile/Peppermint/panels/panel ~/.config/lxpanel/Peppermint/panels/panel

then:
Code:
lxpanelctl restart

the Bottom panel should be back to defaults.

Does it still disappear when you click the networkmanager icon ?

Can you open a terminal and post the output from:
Code:
ls -a ~/.config/lxpanel/Peppermint/panels

and
Code:
uname -a

OK, let's move the backup and see if only one starts

Open a terminal and run:
Code:
mv -v ~/.config/lxpanel/Peppermint/panels/panel.backup ~/panel.backup

now log off and on again (or reboot).

how many panels opened this time ?

Does the panel still work properly ?

Is it still an odd colour ?
