EEE 900 running P3. I've had an 8GB SDHC (Class 6) in the dedicated Card Reader for years working with no problem. When I put in my new class 6 32GB SDHC in the same slot, it is not recognized. (The card will come up if I put it in a card reader plugged into a USB port. Is this a kernel issue?

If you insert the card then run:
Code:
dmesg | tail -n 30

are there any clues where things are going wrong ?

sudo fdisk took a while for the card info to appear. Obviously, it mounts differently than the 8GB card did in the same slot.

So the card IS recognised, just not auto-mounted ?

Are you able to mount it through - Menu > Preferences > Disks
?

Yep, looks like the card appears now, but does not automount. Going to Menu > Preferences > Disk Utility shows the card, but does not give a mount point or let me mount manually.

So when you highlight it in the left column of "Disks", there's no little arrow underneath the "Volumes" in the right panel ?

[EDIT]

Sorry .. only just spotted you're using PM3 .. I can't rememnber the UI for "Disk Utility" in PM3 .. but there was a "mount" option somewhere ?

Have you tried using Disk Utility to reformat the drive ?

I'm pretty sure there should be a "mount" option.

Using Disk Utility to reformat the drive right now. Will see if that helps.

I was able to format the 32GB SDHC, but then I rebooted and it came back in the disk utility as "unknown". I formatted again and the "mount" option showed up, but when I tried to mount it, it just spun.

I took it out of the card reader and put it back into my external reader, and it came out as FAT and read quickly. I'm thinking it might be the r/w speed of the card reader.

Sorry, I was gone for a while.

1. Yes, FAT, not FAT32.

2. My intention would be to leave the 32GB card in the reader full time, as the 8GB has been since I've owned the EEE.
