Been running Peppermint 4 on my ZG5 for a while and love the simplicity of it :-)

However, I'm now having problems when I power on:
I only get a blank screen with a flashing cursor (_)at top left.
BIOS is up to date (I think) at v0.3310

Any suggestions?

You get nothing, no GRUB or anything? No message stating "No OS Found," or something along those lines? (that's NEVER a good message)

Only options on start up are F2 set up menu and F12 change boot order.

It will boot from a Peppermint 4 LiveUSB but I don't get my existing desktop...just the installer boot menu:
Try Peppermint OS Live
Install Peppermint OS
Check disc for defects
Test memory
Boot from first hard disk

Boot the LiveUSB and select "Try Peppermint" .. then when at the desktop, open the file manager .. is the SSD/HDD listed in the left hand column ? and are you able to access the files ?

SSD doesn't show up in file manager but it is visible in Accessories>Disks

Under /dev/sda it has Assessment Disk is OK
Partition 1, Size 14GB, Device /dev/sda1, Partition Type Linux, Contents Unknown.
Partition 2, Size 1.6GB, Device /dev/sda2, Partition Type Extended, Contents Extended Partition.
Partition 5, Size 1.6GB, Device /dev/sda5, Partition Type Linux swap, Contents Unknown.

I'm not worried about losing any files as I only had Gmail, Dropbox, Chrome and Google Drive on desktop.

Good .. because you may have already lost them

There's worse news .. it looks like a catastrophic file system screw up. .. which may be a total SSD failure.

REBOOT to the LiveUSB <-- this is IMPORTANT

When you get to the desktop, do NOTHING that might mount the partitions .. just open a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+T .. and run:
Code:
sudo fsck.ext4 /dev/sda1

the above assumes your file system WAS EXT4 (the default in Peppermint).

If that doesn't work, you're probably going to have to format the whole SSD, cross your fingers that it's not an SSD failure, and do a reinstall.

YES .. boot to the LiveUSB, select "Try Peppermint", and when you get to the desktop, hit Ctrl+Alt+T to open a terminal .. then run that command.
