Nope, just follow the same instructions .. it will either compile under 3.12 or it wont.

I've got nothing with 3.12 on, so can't test it .. but can't hurt to try.

You're gonna have to tell me where you got 3.12 from and how you installed it.

Can I also ask why ?

as mentioned previously, i followed Kendalls directions at
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=40185

i seem to recollect reading that the 3.10 kernel had some updates that were supposed to settle some Ralink issues... but then just decided to get the latest kernel here... http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/ everything else is still working pretty spiffily...

as for why? you mentioned earlier that peppermint. would likely remain in the 3.8 series... but if I updated the kernel to one newer than 3.8 then future sudo apt-get updates that involve kernel updates would be ignored

Sorry .. I seemed to be having a memory failure there ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of the 3.9 kernel for raring (which the drivers will still probably compile against) :)

Was everything else working in 3.8 ?

If so, do you want to try ditching 3.12 for 3.9

lots going on here at the house this week, but sure, i'm up for ditching 3.12 for 3.9 or 3.10 if we need to stick with Raring... everything that i use on this computer works equally well in 3.8 and 3.12 series... save the wifi... ;)

OK, I'll test the drivers compile for 3.9 tomorrow, and if they do I'll post instructions.

meanwhile, can you post the output from:
Code:
uname -a

OK, what's the output from:
Code:
dpkg -l | grep 3.12.0-999

And do you know how to boot an earlier kernel ?
