Can we make sure you're using ndiswrapper.

What's the output from:
Code:
sudo lshw -C network

If you are, we'll undo all that, then take a look at the proprietary drivers from RealTek and/or other solutions.

OK, first let's undo that.

Run:
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

and remove the:-

blacklist r8192se_pci

line you added earlier .. SAVE the file and close gedit.

Back in the terminal, run:
Code:
gksu ndisgtk

highlight the driver, and click "Remove Driver" .. close the app.

REBOOT.

and post the output from
Code:
sudo lshw -C network | grep driver

I followed those steps but after reboot the wireless does not work at all.

I'm now using ethernet.

output is:

configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=2.3LK-NAPI duplex=full ip=192.168.10.111 latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes port=MII speed=100MB/s

Not sure how I can get wireless back on though.

Thids won't survive a reboot (but can be applied each boot for now), I just want to know what happens

run:
Code:
sudo modprobe -r r8192se_pci

then
Code:
sudo modprobe -r ndiswrapper

then
Code:
sudo modprobe r8192se_pci

did wireless spring to life ?

yes it did.

After each command I git this message though:

WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper, it will be ignored in a future release.

Let's remove ndiswrapper as we're not going to be using it anyway .. run:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove --purge ndisgtk ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

REBOOT, and see if wireless "just work" .. if not, running:
Code:
sudo modprobe r8192se_pci

should bring it to life.

If you needed to run the above command, post the contents of:
Code:
leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

let me know if it "just worked" without the need for the command, and we'll go from there.

purged the ndiswrapper programs. Wireless did not come back to life on reboot.

had to run sudo modprobe r8192se_pci

Output from blacklist file:

Run these 2 commands in sequence:
Code:
sudo cp -v /etc/modules /etc/modules.backup

then
Code:
echo r8192se_pci | sudo tee -a /etc/modules

now REBOOT, and let me know if wireless auto starts.

yes, it works on startup now, but still has the original issue of dropping out.
