ARRIS seems to be holding stable.

I switched to TRENDnet a few times and it would eventually drop on websites I know tend to break the connection. ARRIS holds stead on the same sites. Any ideas what could be causing that?

Haven't the foggiest idea .. wonder what would happen if you change the TRENDnet channel or encryption method.

Been busy lately.

Good news is the connection still holds on the ARRIS network, so in the respect of a problem, I would say its solved, though I think its a router issue over a hardware or software issue.

I'll signpost this.

I'd still like to tinker with this.

Does it matter which channel I choose to change the routers to? Both are default set to auto. Does that mean they pick one at random every time they boot up?

You *may* get a better signal on a particular channel depending on outside interference.

And it's always a good idea not to have a few channels seperation from any other routers in the area.

but NO there's nothhing stopping you testing all the channels .. there's no "best for all circumstances" channel.

"Auto" usually scans for other routers and sets the channel so they don't conflict .. but that's obviously not working if they're both set to channel 11

Mess with channels to your hearts content .. you can't damage anything ;)

You could also try using a different encryption method on the router that drops out every now and again .. but bear in mind that will mean re-entering the key into all devices that connect.
