I can see networks, but I cannot connect to any wifi networks. When I type in the passwords I get an unable to authenticate message.

Tried this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/127633/h ... rd-working

and http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=92269

Checked the forum here, but no solution that worked for me.

Connect your netbook to your modem / router via ethernet cable

Go to menu > Preferences > Software & Updates (might take a while to load)
Click on the "Additional Drivers" tab and check for / install recommended driver(s)

If nothing is offered run...
Code:
sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter

Then check Additonal Drivers again

b43-fwcutter is already the newest version.
firmware-b43-installer is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

I can see wireless networks, but after putting in the password. The pop up box shakes and states: Your Authentication attempt was unsuccessful. Please try again.

Can you tell us exactly what that popup box says.

IIRC, you get 2 boxes .. the first prompts with "System policy prevents modification of network settings for all users" (or similar) .. this wants your LINUX password,

then you get another prompt for "Authentication required by Wi-Fi network" (or similar) .. this wants you WIRELESS key.
