reinstall linux-image-extra-3.8.0-33-generic:
Code:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall linux-image-extra-3.8.0-33-generic

now REBOOT.

Now see if:
Code:
sudo modprobe rtl8192c-common

works ?

Wireless switch still doesn't work.

that GTK warning is nothing to worry about.

OK, can you reboot then before doing anything else, just open a terminal and post the output of
