IGNORE THIS POSTING .. see my next

Run:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
add a single NEW line at the bottom that reads:-

blacklist hp_wmi

Save the file, and close gedit

REBOOT, and test if wireless works.

If not, send the output from
Code:
rfkill list

What happens if you run:
Code:
sudo modrpobe -r rtl8192ce rtlwifi

then
Code:
sudo modprobe rtl8192c-common rtl8192ce

Firstly, can you copy/paste commands from now on .. you mistyped the first one.

BUT

Don't worry about that yet .. it seems you're missing the rtl8192c-common.ko module, which is a dependency of the wireless driver rtl8192ce.
(which is odd, as it's supposed to be part of linux-image-extras)

Can you run:
Code:
sudo updatedb

then post the output from:
Code:
locate rtl8192c-common.ko

I haven't forgot this .. I've got an adapter coming later today that uses the rtl8192ce driver too .. so I can get a closer look at what *should* be being loaded.

Does the system allow you to run:
sudo modprobe rtl8192c-common
?

OK, that's just odd .. your system says it's present. yet it cannot find it :/

What happens if you run:
Code:
sudo depmod -a

then try:
Code:
sudo modprobe rtl8192c-common

again ?
