Check if there's a BIOS setting to enable wifi at boot.

If not .. try this...

Turn OFF your laptop

remove the power lead, and the battery .. so it has NO power

press the ON button, and hold it for 5 seconds (to discharge any residual power)

replace the battery and power lead.

Boot up.

Is wireless enabled ?

Checked BIOS, discharged all residual power. No wireless, still hard blocked. :/

What happens if you run:
Code:
sudo rfkill unblock all

does
Code:
rfkill list

still say it's hard blocked ?

?

OK, gimme some time to research this.

Meanwhile, does the wireless switch work if you run:

sudo modprobe -r hp_wmi

first ?
