I am thinking of buying a wireless printer that hooks up to my wifi network (not bluetooth). Can I use it with Peppermint 4? If so, how?

I haven't bought the printer as I'd like to know if doing this is possible before I order it. This is the printer I am thinking of getting.

Please forgive my ignorance--I've never set up a wireless printer on a network (not even on Windows or OS X)

Thanks for your input.

Hi cessanfrancisco

It's perfectly possible to use a WiFi printer with PM4, I have a Samsung (can't remember the model) but it works perfectly through WiFi and it was no problem to set up, so I would say any printer so long as it's supported in Linux should work fine with WiFi, if you're thinking of buying a new printer HP is always a safe bet they have the best Linux support

Good luck

Graeme

OK, according to this:
http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bs ... tml#f00104
it *should* be possible, but according to this:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/226307/h ... er-printer
it may take some work.

I'm with Emegra on this .. get an HP .. HP Printers are well supported in Linux, and usually VERY easy to set up .. just install hplip-gui and it'll usually walk you through it.

Before buying an HP, check it's supported by hplip version 3.13.3 (which is the version in Peppermint 4) or lower .. you can check here:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the valuable input!

I think I'll start looking at HP printers.

When you find one, and if you're not sure about it, feel free to ask ;)
