is this why the peppermint icon is missing in the menu?

went ahead and used:
Code:
sudo apt-get install gnome-icon-theme-symbolic

the error message is now gone... but that's not why the peppermint candy icon has been replaced by a gear wheel in menu...

time for lunch... :P

If you mean why is there only half a peppermint on the menu button .. we're on a budget and short on peppermints, if you buy a LiveCD/LiveUSB from the store, you can have a full peppermint ;)

(only kiddin .. before someone runs off to buy one, then complains)

is this why the peppermint icon is missing in the menu?

No, that's completely separate. The menu icon is one that the devs created and put in a folder to be used in the OS. If it's missing, that's because you moved or deleted it or replaced it with something. To get it back, right-click on the menu and hit "Settings." Once the dialog box comes up, put the following in the text box:

/usr/share/peppermint/images/menu-four.png

That will restore the menu icon, assuming it's still where it should be.

the peppermint icon hasn't been there since i got the install up and running... and when i click settings it comes up with

Code:
/usr/share/peppermint/images/peppermint-logo.png

but all i see is a gear wheel where peppermint icon used to be ;~)

but once i replace it with

Code:
/usr/share/peppermint/images/menu-four.png

i get the half icon PCNetSpec referred to 8-)

this issue has returned....

PCNetSpec wrote:
I suppose we could try the STA (staging) drivers if you want ?

Can you try something first though .. run:
Code:
sudo modprobe -r rt2800pci

then
Code:
sudo modprobe rt2800pci nohwcrypt=1

Did that improve anything ?

Other than turning the wifi off and on, it made no difference in the percentages...

That gedit warning is nothing to worry about, but if you want to stop receiving it:
Code:
sudo apt-get install gnome-icon-theme-symbolic

:)
