I have read almost all the posts on how to install flash player for chromium, firefox and I have even install Chrome just in an effort to have at least one browser with flash, but alas to no avail!.

1) Tried install from package manager - does not work.
2) Tried installing using terminal - does not work.
3) Tried this viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5755&hilit=flash+player - does not work

To be frank this os is the only linux based os that work for me but no flash is a bomber. It is possible to get flash on one of these browsers?

Can you open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run:
Code:
sudo updatedb

now post the output from these 2 commands:
Code:
dpkg -l | grep -i flash

and
Code:
locate libflashplayer.so

This :
Code:
dpkg -l | grep -i flash

gave this result:

Code:
ii  flashplugin-downloader  11.2.202.297ubuntu0.13.04.1  i386  Adobe Flash Player plugin installer (transitional package)
ii  flashplugin-installer       11.2.202.297ubuntu0.13.04.1  i386  Adobe Flash Player plugin installer

and this code
Code:
locate libflashplayer.so

gave this result
Code:
/usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so

OK, try this .. run these commands in sequence:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-downloader flashplugin-installer

then:
Code:
mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/plugins

then
Code:
cd ~/.mozilla/plugins

then
Code:
wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11876059/flashplayer-11.1-32bit.tar.gz

then
Code:
tar -xvf flashplayer-11.1-32bit.tar.gz

now close ALL web browser instances (it's important that you close ALL web browsers) .. then restart Chromium (not Firefox), and see if Flash now works, by trying to watch a youtube video.

I have tried all you said but it does not work on any of the browsers. This is what i see on all the browsers:

"You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video.
Download it from Adobe."

Anything else I can do?

Be aware, Firefox will warn that the flashplayer is out of date and offer to update it .. do NOT accept that offer (it may break the flashplayer for both Firefox and Chromium).

If you REALLY want Firefox, we can turn off that warning .. just let me know, and I'll post how.

When you're happy the issue is solved, can you please mark the topic (SOLVED) .. you can do this by editing the FIRST posting in this topic and changing:-

Subject: Peppermint 4 and flash Player (SOLVED)

Thanks in advance :)

AWESOME! Everything worked even though i did not the last output as you predicted i would. I got
Code:
libflashplayer.so

but you said i would get
Code:
~/.mozilla/plugins $ tar -xvf flashplayer-11.1-32bit.tar.gz libflashplayer.so

I am not sure if this is significant. Yes I do want the firefox update link to be removed!

No .. the last respondent was just showing his command prompt and command .. THEN the result.

the only output from the last command would be:-

libflashplayer.so

;)

The workaround for Firefox, to disable the warnings -

In Firefox enter:-

about:config

into the address bar and hit enter, now confirm the "I'll be careful" warning.

Then search for the Preference Name:-

plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin

and double-click it in order to toggle it to:-

true

That's it .. done .. though you may have to close ALL instances of Firefox and reopen it before the changes are applied.
